Reasons NOT to disclose your Adsense revenue
There are a few good reasons for not telling your buddies over the Internet how much exactly do you earn. I might sound cynical, but those who you consider online friends, are not necessarily your biggest well-wishers. If they run sites as well and your earnings turned to be bigger, you could easily arise their antipathy, even if together with respect.
I will give you an example. A friend of mine, told in one of the biggest forums on the internet, how much he earns per month. The next 20 replies said “I hate you!
”. Laughingly, of course, but the points is clear – they earn dramatically less, are unlikely to ever get to his level and yeah, of course they are happy for their mate.
No matter what type of revenue you disclose, it will always turn against you.
If you earn 2 cents a day and speak about it, it would be obvious to all that your site is crap; or maybe it’s not – but no one visits it anyway. In other words, it’s not worth to advertise with you, right? It’s not worth swapping links with you, right? You (and your site) is not the most successful deal they can think of.
On the other hand, if you earn 50$ a day – earn it, but don’t speak about it, because then, together with your cheque, you will earn loads of enemies. Trust me, no one likes rich people, especially those who outdid them in the same activity field. After all, no one will be as sincerely happy for you as much as you will be for yourself. Believe me.

Yes, thats very very true..
Also along the lines of “I’m getting 300 visitors per day on XXXXXXX keyword”.
Chances are, someone with a bigger, fatter website than you will go after your find.
Excellent advice. It really doesn’t make any [ad]sense to brag about earnings. After all, you have to ask yourself what you’re hoping to accomplish by advertising your earned dollar amount.
Yeah, i fully agree with your idea conveyed through your article and also the “in between the lines”
I have already undergone those type of things and this is very frustrating at times to see that there is no real “friend” or “team-spirit” nowadays..
Anyway, keep going!

There are examples where it does not hurt at all such as Steve Pavlina’s site. In his case I think displaying his earnings might actually help sales since he is usually motivating people to make money on the internet.
Yes, you are right. I do the same… I don’t disclose.
