4 Things I learnt from 4Webz.com

Back in 2004, I met a guy who taught me html and how to build a site. He was already an experienced programmer specializing in Java games for mobile phones (which you can download free), while for me source code and Chinese letters looked pretty much the same. Today, we are still in touch, and I still learn something new from him every day. Here are just few recent tricks I learnt from his successfully growing blog — 4webz.com.

1. How to double the traffic. This is a very simple and easy trick to doubling your traffic from Search Engines. I had seen the impressive results on 4webz.com and went ahead, doing the same. Results are fast and impressive. All you need to do it add a auto translation plug in By Nothing 2 Hide. This small add-on, automatically translates all your website to 13 languages and creates a multi-lingual version of your blog, which shortly gets indexed by Google and whoever will be searching for a keywords that match your post in their own language (Spanish, French, Russian, and more) will get to your website.

2. How to double the revenue. Although I came to this conclusion myself already on some websites, it took me over a year to figure that Adsense is not always the best way for making money online, especially if you run a blog. Placing a gambling related banner for 1 month or posting one short review of a gambling site can bring more income than 5 months of Adsense spread allover your blog. So always consider what’s more money making, Adsense or private ads, and take things in proportion, if you cannot display them together.

3. How to save time while working. As being a programmer, the admin of 4webz.com, Tomas, realizes the value of various plug-ins and how they can make one’s life easier. 4webz.com is stuffed with plug in for almost any case and as a result, everything is done n one click, be it post editing, sidebar modifications or feed submission to mobile or other feed readers. Contrary to common belief, even having a dozen of plug-ins enable, does not slow down the site’s loading time, yet significantly simplifies your working process and as I said already — saves time. 4Webz.com uses WP Admin Bar Reloaded, Akismet, All in One SEO Pack, WordPress Database Backup and more.

4. How to measure your connection speed. Finally, and this is not web development related yet can help all of us — Speedmeter. This is a great online tool published on 4webz.com which allows you to measure your internet connection speed in real time. If you feel your browser is crawling slow, just check your Internet speed to see where is the problem.

My learning journey from my Tomas and his other websites will never come to end, there is always more nethings to pick up from those we look up to, and I hope you can learn from his skills as well!
