Adsense works better on dark layouts?

As I run plenty of websites in various niche, I have a good chance of comparing how Adsense works for me in different color combinations and niches. The best tool for judging Adsense success is the click-through-rate (CTR). Weather you have 50 uniques a day or 5000, the CTR will reflect the ratio between viewed ads and clicks on them. Based on this CTR analysis, I noticed that ALL Google ads on my websites with darker layout (that are NOT webmaster’s related) tend to perform better. I noted about them not being webmasters related because of teh ads-blindness webmasters develop and regardless colors scheme learn to avoid ads.

Are dark backgrounds really better?

I guess there is no certain under as ads position and layout plays a big role, however, if you have a chance to run your website in a “test” mode for a week or two with dark wordpress template, just see if it maybe doesn’t improve your CTR…  After all, having a dark colour displayed on the monitor consumes less electricity ;)
