I often get emails asking what web hosts am I using for hosting all my sites and the answer is — I use many. I try to host each few sites on a separate IP, first of all, if the host goes down only a few websites will suffer from downtime, and secondly — link building within my own network brings more benefits. All this pays out spending a few dollars a month extra on each host.
Recently I got my hosting account at Lunar Pages. This host is often compared to Dream Host by means of offering too much bandwidth for too little price… You can also avail of our special deal, and get $50 OFF if you input the coupon code LORELEI. (That turns out to be less than $4 a month + free domain.. not a bad deal?)
The difference between these 2 hosts, Lunar Pages seem to have a much more powerful servers and obviously better uptime. I also signed up with their referral program that pays out much better than Dreamhost. Both DreamHost and LunarPages give you a FREE domain upon sign up, which you can keep for life as long as you host with them.
However, both hosts still do not perform as good as HostGator, on which I host my forum. Even though they offer less disk space and bandwidth for a higher price, you get a better quality server, faster, always online and Awstats installed.
Another host we would recommend is SurfTown. For $7.95 a month you get more space than you can ever use and a FREE domain. You can host only 1 domain on the basic plan, but then again, if you have a quality site with plenty of visitors this is a great solution.
For more info, we always use websites that compare many web hosts and their features, this is always a very useful tool to help you make up your mind and decide which host you want to go with.

Oh, very nice write up… But what about free host’s? I know we all love to hate free host’s… But when your JUST learning about making websites, and creating a functional, readable, USABLE, website, You would undoubtedly go for a free host, Because you really don’t know where your going with it yet!
After struggling for a while with so many hosting companies, we have finally found a company with an A+ product and an UNMATCHED CUSTOMER SUPPORT: http://www.servint.com
While free hosts are nice to learn a little, they are also much more restricted in the sense that the servers are usually overloaded, and that many PHP features have been disabled..
