We Are Looking for PSD to WordPress (Good!) Coder
As being an owner of a rather popular blog, I often get offers from various designers to make me a logo, a new wordpress design and other service exchange offers. Unfortunately, I am unable to get back to everyone (and I apologize for having to neglect some offers as I often just have no time to politely refuse).
But, I do think now that it’s time to make a little makeover for toptut.com! With all the bloggers switching to magazine style wp themes (even John Chow and Pro Blogger did!), why don’t we follow the wp herd? We, at Lorelei Web Design, don’t trust anyone else’s skills when it comes to doodling a new layout, so I went ahead this evening and made a sketch of future magazine-style layout for Top Tut:

What do you think? As you can see, the layout is not very complicated, and is not really a “magazine” style theme, apart from maybe the grey column that will pull posts from the “featured” wp category. There is no need for any special fields in admin panel, no special plug ins (don’t forget I code myself as well), but I thought it could be fun to announce this request and see what other’s can offer me.
I am open for any offers, bear in mind that we can work out some deal of services-exchange, or ads space on toptut which is otherwise SOLD OUT for anyone else, in this case you will as well get a lifetime footer link with credits for your work. Needless to add that I am looking for a combination of a best coder with the best price / deal.
Please email me your offers with previous examples of your work / portfolio page, make the email title “toptut coding” and send it all to – lorelei [at] loreleiweb [dot] com until November 30th.
The “winner” with the best offer will also get a review on toptut.com (worth $150).
Good luck, and looking forward to hearing from you guys and girls!

great theme! I have download it for my second blog.
Nice layout. But can be made more better…
Jerry – Nice English. But IT can be made MUCH better…
Cool layout on the theme and great result.

i find the sketch a little square, and i think it is very important to use graphic elements, even just colors with attention specialy if your ads are dominating the main top section of the page.
soooooo to liberate that space i would rethink that nav bars background to don’t eat up the headers graphic space (it is useless to use “all width” background for it) i would take care of the google ads color harmony! because ads are difficult to insert “nicely, find some solution for the nav bar on the left, (maybe some dinamicly opening navbar on mouseover)aaand about the search bar….it is always a question how much it is in use……make it smaller in order to create a bit space for more important elements as header graphic,or some dinamic header element, or whatever…..you wish for.
Because the most important on a blog/site is the fresh actual content it is nice”" if the articles are does not pushed in the middle as a chit chat on a busy bus,
