I decided to make 2 simple logos free for download, for toptut.com readers only. They are very plain, yet I hope will find they warm home some day. In my humble opinion they will suit best for travel agency sites, but it’s up to you.

precious stones psd layer styles

Each of the shapes has a similar style settings, only with different colour settings overlay. In oder to be able to store these style settings in your style palette, open the .psd file in your Photoshop, and select one of the X’s in your Layers menu. Double click on the small “f”. Click the “New Style” button, and give the style a name, then click “OK”.

This new layer style will appear now at the bottom of your layer styles palette, which means you can apply the settings in one click to any shape, text, frame… whatever.

About half a year ago I posted a tutorial on how to make crumbled gold text effect and this tut won a lot of attention and even though it was sold and on many websites was not even posted under my name, somehow I am managing to receive feedback and all the questions go to me. I have no clue how people find me, probably because the tutorial was also posted in my forum, Crumbled Gold Text Effect tutorial.

Anyway, in one of the emails I got a few days ago, I was asked to make a PSD file of this tutorial, because some people struggle to find the right right texture (even though it was posted in this blog for a download, in another tutorial post. So, I decided go ahead, and release the download, hope it will be beneficial to you and you will find a good use for this file. Commercial use is okay as long as you don’t resell it or steal credits. Moreover, I will kindly ask you not to link to my download files nor offer it on other websites, because as a result, the files get unauthorizedly distributed and reproduced, and that’s unwanted. Sorry to be mean but I work to get traffic to my site, not to yours :D

It’s about time to produce a new tutorial and I was thinking about something that no one has done before me and came to realize that most of the themes have already been touched upon. It’s pretty hard to come up with an original idea that no one ever thought about before, but since I made it at night, I thought… has anyone ever made a “midnight text effect”? I did not find it anywhere on the Internet, so here it is, you can see the example above.

What will you need for this tutorial?

moon_star0.png First of all, you need to download the Moon Star Font. Click on the image to go to the download page.

Installation of the font in Windows is very easy: unzip the font you have downloaded, open the folder with the downloaded font. Now, go to Start > Control Panel > Fonts. Drag and drop the file from your downloaded folder into the fonts folder in your control panel. It will take a few seconds for the font to be installed. Once the mini-window with progress bar got closed, you can access this font from your Photoshop.

tutfull.jpg So, once you have installed the font, click on the image to download / full view. It will guide you step by step how to set the layer styles correctly and what colours should you use. To make your life easier in case of a failure, I am offering a FREE .PSD file of this tutorial, for Lorelei Web Forum members only. Please note that you need to be registered or logged in to access the download. Enjoy!

I often write tutorials or just play around with Photoshop and have tons of styles left, saved in my styles palette, which I normally do not even use anymore as I am ceaselessly experimenting and trying out new variations, combinations, gradients… Here are a few not very recent styles I made, they come as big web 2.0 style icons in PSD format, so you can resize, modify and do whatever you like with them, hope you will enjoy playing around with these styles. Click on the image to download.

If you like these style settings, you can easily modify these icons by saving the style and using another shape from your shapes collection.

Yesterday I was messing around with the gloss effect, trying to make something stylish (”web 2.0″ style, whatever it is). Made this and thought I will let people download free, because… I don’t really like the result anyway and unlikely to use it anywhere. Yup, this is how generous I am. Enjoy!

Click on the image to download the zipped .PSD file. If you wish to discuss how was this done, please visit our Photoshop Tutorials Forum.
