As many f you have noticed this morning, WordPress 3.0 has been finally and officially released for public download. The first thing I did — backed up my current database and started with the upgrade, which took quite fast.
What do I see so far?

Slight changes in the design of the dashboard interface, these are not drastic enough changes to make a whole new version of WordPress, yet annoying enough because things are not “like they used to be” anymore.

Important Highlights, other than that?

• New default theme “Twenty Ten” takes full advantage of the current features of WordPress.
• New custom menu management feature, allows creation of custom menus combining posts, pages, categories, tags, and links for use in theme menus or widgets.
• Custom header and background APIs.
• Bulk updating of themes with an automatic maintenance mode during the process.
• Support for shortlinks.
