Although some people find this game to be “abusive towards animals”, I personally really love the Yeti games series. One of the latest is Orca Slap.

It is similar in nature to the previous games released, such as Yeti Pengu Throw and also has fantastic graphics and very pleasant blueish background. However, Orca Slap is far harder to win. You actually have o throw one object (snow comb) which will hit another (penguin) and consequently hit in the center of the aim. I really enjoyed this game and highly recommend it to anyone who likes web based games. This one you will find on a site that does not shower you with pop-ups, and is totally free!

The crime’s background: A couple of days ago a typical “justice case” took place - themes.wordpress.net blamed me for creating double accounts and uploading / sponsoring rip offs. First accusations is that I, Liza Kliko, and the owner of web2themes.com (who also wrote a comment on his blog about it), are the same person. The basis, however, was too blatant to miss - our themes, which happened to be uploaded on the same day - FeeltheFreedom (web2themes.com’s) and Bluewell (mine) were perhaps so obviously similar, that even blind could see these themes were created by the same designer. This post is fully and whole-heartedly dedicated to Charlie from DreamHost. Thanks to this exceptionally friendly and knowledgeable  guy who I found through support form of DH, I managed to upgrade toptut.com, which was running on some ridiculously outdated WP’s version, to a brand new, shiningWordPress 2.2. Evidently, with Dreamhost I could do it in one single click without even having to back up the database manually. Who would believe that SQL gone easy?

Not only this, but also thanks to Charlie I have 4 of my WordPress themes (Diary Notes, Lorelei Bliss 2.0, Lizommi and DarkLight) pre-installed in one-click-installs at DreamHost now, by default! Within these few days I already had over 100 websites who availed of my design, of course also thanks to the heads of the company who approved the request. Keep up the great work guys and thanks for the fantastic partnership!

In the end of May I made a post, where I had some SEO related plans regarding my 2 blogs - toptut.com and nowg.net. After I posted them I was a little concerned that I will not manage to make it by the end of June, especially since I had a lot of offline plans and aggressive SE Optimization just did not seem to fit in well in . But I thought - okay, maximum I will just fail.

By June 7th, the plan was already almost fulfilled.

As you can see, Alexa traffic plan for nowg.net was the only issue that was left behind, but let’s not forget, it’s only June 20th today, still 10 days to go, anything can happen. So, about 2500 extra backlinks were gathered for both blogs in 30 days, if you ask me, I’d say it’s a bad at all. I am pretty sure I won’t make it, because like I said, originally I had a different promotion plan which ended up been frozen due to lack of time, however, what I did not take into account is that people are linking to me out of free will as well, which helped greatly and I want to use this opportunity and thank all the blogs who introduce their readers to the content of my blog, thanks a bunch!

Yes, those of you who visit my blog on a daily basis must have noticed that the site is now using a new theme, fully designed by me. Also, I want to apologize for inconvenience you might have experienced yesterday due to upgrade to WordPress 2.2. It turned out that after the upgrade some things did not work properly, or rather not the way I planned so I fixed all th errors one by one without taking the blog offline, hence some pages were broken and displayed a bit wrong.

Anyway, now we are up-to-date on the new shining WP 2.2. It’s so much better than the older platform I used (never upgraded since December 2006) and to be honest more convenient and secure. The idea of making a new skin came spontaneously, as I heard the previous theme I was using, originally coded by th every talented Ghyslain Armand, was not compatible with 2.2. So it took me half a day to design a new theme that will be more or less in the same colors scheme, yet maybe a bit more clean and fast loading. I heard quite a few complains about the site loading slow, and even noticed it myself on T1 connection. Previous design was about 500kb while this theme is below 130kb, which means almost 3 times “lighter”. Also, it’s based on one .css file, unlike the previous theme that had to download 9 .css files in order to display the site properly. Coding of this theme is far cleaner and therefore will load properly in IE as well, so all the Internet Explorer users who used to think the design of toptut.com was crap can no longer say it (I hope…) because it displays properly in Firefox, Opera, Safari and IE 6+, on resolutions 1024*768, 1280*1024, 1400×1050 and 1600×1200 so if anyone notices a mishap or thinks something is not working, please, please, please let me know, I would really want to fix the problem, after all I only have one pair of eyes and you all, the visitors, have thousands.

So, I hope you like the new layout and will enjoy using this blog just as much as before.

I just finished reading the “No Sex Tonight” mini-story. Please go read it and, I am begging, please read it until the end. It’s so cruel, so inhuman, so cold-blooded, so under-handed. It just made my day. I laughed like I didn’t laugh in months now. There is nothing I would normally adore and admire more than a subtle cynical humor, the kind of banter you get to enjoy in “Curse of the Jaded Scorpio” movie; if you are the victim – you just begin to love your butcher. Victims always love their butches. Would you agree?

Long ago I figured that spicy people produce the best writing, it always has a zest. They interact with the readers by asking questions (by the way, would you agree? :- ) ), small pricks here and there and if we are talking about a blog, the writer can be evil and write a poisonous post, full of stings and peevish remarks, throw provoking and angrily-exciting statements, and by the time the reader reaches the end of the page and already cooked a rough version of a comment in his head – he realizes the comments for that post have been disabled… In fables, the good powers always win over the bad dragon, but over the internet it’s always the other way around. Except maybe Jim with his yet another cruel urban legend starring a woman, which I am sure you read already. Am I the only one who shines when the story is obviously heading towards a bitter-sweet end?

I decided to set myself some plans for improving the ranking of both toptut dot com and nowg dot net, my currently running blogs. I am after improving the Technorati Rank as well as the amount of backlinks rather than trying to pull the Alexa up.

Current data for TopTut.com: Backlinks - 3,426, Technorati rank - 29,935, Links from other Technorati blogs - 311, Alexa - 191,548.

Nowg.net - Backlinks - 59 (boo!), Technorati rank - 425,069, Links from other Technorati blogs - 19, Alexa - 531,182.

• The SEO goal until the end of June:

TopTut.com: Backlinks - 4,100+, Technorati rank - 20,000, Links from other Technorati blogs - can’t really estimate it as not all the blogs appear there, Alexa - 180,000.

Nowg.net - Backlinks - 1000+, Technorati rank - 250,000, Links from other Technorati blogs - again, can’t really estimate it as not all the blogs appear there, Alexa - 430,000.

Now you’ll ask, how possible is it? Well, it’s definitely a hell of a challenge. I can honestly say that I am hoping to get there but can’t guarantee, and honestly I am not sure how exactly will I collect so many backlinks from other blogs, not forgetting that they all better have some Technorati authority and good PR, otherwise there is little point in them.

Anyway, if you, the reader, feel like reaching a helping hand, how about a links exchange?
