As being a woman I know that no gift can be more touching than a diamond ring received from a man we love so Marilyn Monroe was right - diamonds are girl’s best friends. While I was younger I did not really understand the fuss around jewelery, but when I grew up and received my first sparking gift - a simple ring with a high quality diamond - I realized, finally, why women love them the most - these small precious stones are really able to raise the mood and make you happy any time.

While rings are known as a motif of eternity, diamonds have always represented love and beauty. Together they create a very strong symbol of never-ending true love, strength and charm. Isn’t it fascinating, how small things in life can represent such strong motives, which reflect our feelings and intentions? Even the phrase itself - Diamond Ring, already represents a very strong image, and this is nothing compared to when you actually see it, in candle light… There is no better way to say “I Love You!”

Hi again!I must admit that I don’t agree with you :) I mean, I just don’t think that a diamond ring is the best way to say someone “I love you”. No, not at all…In fact, a diamond ring is just a diamond ring and there are a lot of things far more valuable and important than jewelry.

Anyway, I like your articles and I’m coming back here regularly :)

    Best regards!

I agree that women do hold an affinity for jewelry, but I think diamonds are WAY overpriced. And if you wanted to sell one back, you only get half the money. This is because the diamond companies have hyped it so much that women will do anything for a diamond. I think a ring can be just as, if not more, spectacular with a finely cut ruby, sapphire, etc.

I have a special place in my heart for rubies because my mom’s maiden name was Ruby. I think in my family it will be tradition to buy rubies instead of diamonds. Besides, they hold their resale value.

I’m with Marrisa on this one. There are lots of other ways to show a person that you love her. Girls aren’t after jewelry, or diamonds. An intimate dinner, or a walk in the park while talking about anything and everything seems more appealing to me. But then again, each person is entitled to his own opinion. :)

Thanks for your comments Daisy and Marrisa!

Well girls, I agree that maybe diamond ring is not the ONLY way to say I love you, but definitely a very impressive one (unless it is our husband and we know he spent the entire budget on it). Of course intimate dinner as itself is a much deeper experience, but I am a material girl and say - diamonds last longer! :D

Spiff, rubies are love stones, so no wonder you prefer them. I love them too btw, they are very warm and attract love-luck!
