Most of us are not aware of the fact that there are other email providers, but since we are talking to the majority here let’s assume your life concentrates around Google mail, so — yes, some new features are coming along from “Santa Gmailaus”.
First of all, you can chat to your friends from AOL messenger via Gmail (just like you can add MSN peeps to Yahoo!, and visa versa). Secondly, those awful signs Gmail labels are “smileys” are now replaced, or rather you can choose between them and rounded or square-shaped smileys, still a few light years away from what MSN has to offer, but Gmail is slowly getting there. In 2010 we might email get introduced to Gmail Winks.
Apart from that, you can add “labels” to your email. First you add a list of labels, then you can just in one-click add labels to each email and easily segment out business / personal emails. Practically, it’s like separating emails into folders (which is what Yahoo and some other email clients provide) but Gmail names it a bit differently and yay, keeps us happy.
That’s is it for the time being, nothing breathtaking, but at least it was not too much of a let down update from Google.
