How to Build a Useful FAQ Section with AI in WordPress
Find real unanswered questions in a WordPress post, use AI to propose candidates, and keep only accurate FAQ answers that help the reader finish the task.

A tutorial can explain a task well and still leave a few conditional questions. For a WordPress article, those may concern a plugin setting, a mobile view, or what to do when the expected result is absent. The useful FAQ starts with those actual gaps. A batch of generic questions about the article’s subject adds little and can make a clear guide harder to scan.
Start with the article, not an AI-generated question list
Read the published draft from the reader’s position. Mark the steps where someone may have to choose an option, diagnose a failure, or check a result. The article’s own search queries, reader comments and support questions can supply stronger candidates when available. A question inferred by AI is only a candidate; it is not evidence that readers have asked it.
For example, TopTut’s Elementor first-page guide walks through creating and checking a page. A reader may ask what to check if a heading looks right on desktop but wraps badly on a phone. That question follows the guide’s task. “What is the future of web design?” does not.
Sort the questions before drafting answers
| Candidate question | Where it belongs | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| How do I create the first page? | Main tutorial | It is the promised task, not an appendix. |
| Why does my heading wrap on mobile? | FAQ or troubleshooting section | It is a conditional problem after the main steps. |
| Is Elementor free? | Short answer near setup | Plan choice can affect a beginner before they start. |
| Can AI build my whole site for me? | Omit here | It changes the article’s subject and needs separate evidence. |
This placement test prevents the common mistake of burying a necessary instruction below a “Frequently asked questions” heading. If an answer needs several screenshots or a decision tree, it may deserve its own section or article. If a sentence in the guide already answers it, improve that sentence or its heading.
Give AI a bounded review task
Reader task: [one sentence]. Full article: [paste the current draft]. Suggest up to five questions a reader may still have after completing the main steps. For each question, quote the passage that makes it plausible and say whether the answer is already present. Label it: essential step, conditional troubleshooting, short clarification, or off-topic. Do not invent reader comments, product features, prices, tests, or citations. Do not write the final answers.
Check each proposal against the whole draft. AI may miss an answer inside a table, suggest a question because it appears on other sites, or mistake a broad keyword for a reader problem. Reject those proposals. Draft the remaining answers from checked facts and keep each answer as long as its question requires. A one-sentence definition is fine; troubleshooting may need a sequence.
Check the answer against its source and the live page
For the mobile heading example, Elementor’s responsive editing guide describes switching device views and adjusting supported controls. A useful answer would tell the reader to inspect the heading in mobile view, adjust the device-specific typography setting if needed, and check the public page at a narrow width. It should also mention that settings can inherit from wider views, because that affects what the editor displays. Do not claim a setting works across all Elementor editor versions unless the relevant version is checked.
Add the questions as ordinary headings and paragraphs in the WordPress editor; WordPress documents adding blocks through the inserter or slash command. Preview the page and check that the answers are visible without an interactive widget. If a plugin generates FAQ markup, inspect its output before keeping it. Do not add a second schema object if the site already outputs one.
Example FAQ answer: What if my Elementor heading wraps on mobile?
Open the page in Elementor and switch to its mobile view. Select the heading, then inspect its responsive typography controls. Adjust the mobile setting where available, and check the public page at a narrow width after saving. If you changed a wider device setting, inspect the inherited value on mobile before assuming the mobile control is broken. This answer follows a real point in the first-page task and uses the vendor’s documented controls.
Do not build the section around an obsolete rich-result promise
Google recorded the removal of its FAQ rich-result feature in June 2026, following the May 2026 deprecation. An FAQ can still help a reader, but the old promise of a special FAQ display in Google Search is no reason to add one. Review the section for accuracy, useful placement and a clear answer on the page itself.
Before publishing, read the guide without its FAQ. If the reader cannot complete the central task, repair the guide. Then read only the FAQ: each question should be distinct, each answer should have a verified basis, and every link should lead to a relevant source or next step. Remove questions that only restate a heading or exist to make the article appear comprehensive.
Frequently asked questions
How do I add an FAQ section to a WordPress post?
Add a heading near the end of the post, then place each question and its answer in visible blocks. If Rank Math is installed and its Schema module is enabled, its FAQ block can hold the questions and generate structured data. Preview the public page before publishing.
Can AI write FAQ questions for a blog post?
AI can suggest questions after reading the complete draft, but each suggestion needs editorial review. Keep questions that resolve a real choice or problem left by the article; reject repeats, broad keyword variants and questions the article already answers.
How many questions should a WordPress FAQ have?
Use as many as the reader needs. Five distinct, well-answered questions are more useful than a longer list of near-duplicates. If a question is essential to completing the main task, answer it in the guide itself as well.
Where should an FAQ go in a tutorial?
Place short clarifications and conditional troubleshooting after the main steps, where readers can find them once they reach that point. Put setup requirements and essential instructions in the main tutorial instead of hiding them in the FAQ.
Does Rank Math FAQ schema guarantee a Google FAQ rich result?
No. Google removed the FAQ rich-result feature from Search results in 2026. Use the block to present readable questions and answers, and check that the page does not output duplicate FAQ schema; do not add questions solely for a special search appearance.
How do I check whether an AI-generated FAQ answer is accurate?
Trace every product feature, price, setting and technical claim to an appropriate current source. Compare the proposed answer with the full article, then inspect the public page to confirm the wording, links and layout survived publishing.
